Trust, it’s an easy thing to lose, and an even harder thing to gain back. How we come to trust someone depends on the honesty and loyalty they bestow upon us.
I’ve had numerous relationships that went down in flames due to the fact that I was lied to or betrayed. And looking back it was always one of the people closest to me at the time.
It became so normal that I began to just expect it.
You never expect it. It’s a sudden slap to the face, like you never even crossed their mind.
Many of these relationships or friendships didn’t last after such a devastating outcome.
Some, however, only grew stronger. Those were the ones who found their selves
in a twist of lies or in a bad situation that revealed to them, the effects of their actions.
They didn’t just leave or find reason to blame. They were the ones that stuck around and proved their selves to be loyal and honest, many of which are still in my life to this very day.
I realize now, that it’s not fair to someone who is continuing to try their best now, to be compared to someone in my past that may have tried but eventually gave up. Because they aren’t the same two people, and you never know how far they may be willing to go to keep you a part of their life.
Now don’t think that I was just going to throw everyone else under the bus. Because I myself can say that I have betrayed and let down my share of people in the past for sure. But what I am trying to get at, is that just because someone in your past has betrayed you, let you down, or just plain left, doesn’t mean that everyone else you meet will too.
I may have experienced a lot of lost relationships/friendships, but in return I have found a tight-knit circle of people who never cease to continue proving their loyalty to me, time and time again! That’s what makes a strong bond. That is what keeps TRUST.
